Form and Function
The first thing anyone would notice when looking at this boombox from Sony is its radical design, with a bold black, red, and silver color scheme and styling that might befit a spaceship more than a boombox. Of course it all has a purpose, housing two 4-inch drivers, each with its own 0.8-inch tweeter. Taking up the low end is a 5-inch subwoofer, which pumps bass through the reflex ports on the bottom, for some serious, thumping low end.
Audio Input
Connect iPods, other MP3 players, or pretty much any audio device using the stereo mini (3.5-mm) input.
Cassettes, CDs, and MP3s
The CFD-G700CP will play your cassette tapes, your CD and CD-R/RW discs, and better yet, it lets you play back burned CD-R/RW discs full of MP3s, for hours of music on a single disc.
Digital AM/FM Stereo Tuner
Provides accurate, drift-free tuning of AM and FM radio stations, with 20 FM and 10 AM presets to instantly pull up your faves.

I lugged (that term used purposefully) the box into the kitchen, unboxed it, and set it on the kitchen table. Most of it (the table, I mean.) This unit is HUGE.It looks ready to take off, or strap it to your back like the rocket pack from the Rocketeer (and it's about that same size). Pictures on the Amazon site give you the breadth but not the depth of the sizing. Assuming you can handle the size, the main function of the unit - produce quality sound at high volumes - is worth the entry fee. Classical, simple vocal, pop, rock, country - excellent sound and reasonable tone-shaping controls - presets for rock, salsa, flat, and a couple of others do shape the sound a bit. 3 levels for the bass add, tied to the red rim light on the center bass speaker. This thing sounds really good -- especially for the price. It is a little on the heavy side at 21 pounds, without batteries. The center has a 5 1/8" subwoofer that's surrounded by a red neon light. Looks very cool and the subwoofer has 2 levels if you don't like your music too bassy.
